Casio CDP-230R Compact Digital Piano

The Casio CDP-230R is a professional-grade 88 key compact electric piano, featuring 700 AHL keyboard voices, 200 preset rhythms and an array of functions and digital effects.

Producing the distinct tones found within the CDP-230R library is its Acoustic and Highly-Compressed Large-Waveform (AHL). This dual-element system uses waveforms of separate samples of the same notes at strong and light key pressures. The result is a sound closer the tone of a real acoustic piano, with increased texture and dynamics, especially when coupled with the spring-less hammer system.

The CDP-230R’s keys use a spring-less hammer system modelled off those found in grand pianos, as a result, the keys feel naturally firm with heavier keys found on the lower notes and lighter keys on the higher notes. The touch response on each key picks up very subtly nuance in your playing style. Combine this with the pianos 48-note polyphony and the ability to play such a large number of notes simultaneously opens up tonnes of creative potential for the advanced player. The 230 also has the ability to sample any sound captured via a microphone and then transfers that recording to the keyboard!

There are 700 unique tones available to play with the CDP-230R spanning a wide range of acoustic and electric pianos, and various other sounds including the superb sounding Dyno Rhodes, 60’s Wurlitzer and Clavinet. The advanced Auto Accompaniment feature gives you access to a large array of ethnic rhythms with special attention to Latin rhythms. Also included are classics such as the Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Samba, Reggaeton and more. You can also save up to 10 ‘User Rhythms’ by editing existing beats in the collection. With the Auto Accompaniment feature, chords and harmonies are triggered by your playing to create a multiple-layered performance.

The various effects on the CDP-230R are essential tools in creating a unique tone and feel, Reverb and Chorus can be used to great effect, including the dedicated ‘Hall’ button, that recreates the rich sustain of a concert hall.

For the learning piano player, the CDP-230 is packed full of teaching features that will greatly help your development and see your skill level grow. ‘Step Up Lesson’ teaches you a song in broken up into phrases, master each on and then stitch them together when ready to perform the entire piece. Secondly, the ‘Voice Fingering Guide’ calls out finger numbers via a human voice when it senses you have slowed down your speed or briefly paused during playing. When playing along to one of 152 song bank tunes (Including 50 exercise Phrases), upon completion the ‘Performance Evaluation’ will display a lesson score based on note accuracy and timing.

When those moments of genius suddenly present themselves, the 230R boasts a 6 track, 5 song recording capability and the option to record to SD card and USB MIDI.

The Casio CDP-230R is a powerful and advanced compact digital piano perfect for both amateurs and professionals.
